Ria is a composer, arranger, and pianist with several major albums, live concerts, television appearances, and TV scores to her credit. She has worked with Gerard Salonga, Mel Villena, Lea Salonga, Bob Aves, Maestro Angel Pena, Aiza Seguerra, Tots Tolentino, and Bamboo, just to name a few.
She received her Bachelor's Degree in Music, majoring in Composition from the University of The Philippines in 2005. She has studied under Dr. Ramon Santos, Prof. Chino Toledo, visiting professor Gary Nash, and Dr. Jonas Baes. She was the pianist of the UP Jazz Ensemble from 2001 to 2005.
In 2005 she was chosen to represent the Philippines at the 2005 Asian Composers' League Young Composers' Competition (held in Thailand), where her composition, "Trees," was premiered.
Also in 2005, she was commissioned by the National Music Competitions for Young Artists (NAMCYA) to compose its contest piece for its Voice competition category. "Agtutubo": Text by Dong Abay, music by Ria Osorio.
As a pianist, she currently plays for the world jazz group, the Bob Aves Group. In 2008 they played in Zhu Jia Jiao, China (World Music Festival), and Gapyeong, Korea (Jarasum Jazz Festival).
Currently, she is working as an in-house musical arranger for Carmel House Studios, and the music group FILharmoniKa (led by Gerard Salonga), where she composes and arranges music for a wide range of projects: cartoon scores; live shows; and albums.
Her most recent major projects include the music score to RPG Metanoia, the country’s 1st full-length 3D animated film; orchestral arrangements for Lea Salonga's album Inspired (where she also played piano), all the arrangements for Johnny Alegre's jazz/orchestral album Eastern Skies, the original theme song and scoring for Shelldon (an Asian cartoon), the original music scores of Jippy the Jeepney (a cartoon series), orchestral arrangements for the Rock Orchestra album, Kumpas. Her compositions/arrangements have also been played by the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra, the Manila Symphony Orchestra, the Peace Philharmonic orchestra of Cebu, the Metro Manila Community Orchestra, the Hongkong Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Bangkok Symphony Orchestra. She has also arranged music for foreign artists such as David Pomeranz, David Benoit, Jim Brickman, and Jeremy Monteiro’s All Star Jazz Band (Singapore).
She is also a resident arranger for the television show, Singing Bee (2008 Philippine Franchise), and continues to write arrangements for various major artists in the music industry.
When not busy music-making, she loves to run, go mountain biking, and try to keep her blog updated.
